get to Know us
EnKore Theatre Company is an inclusive, community-centered theatre dedicated to youth education and artistic development. At its core, EnKore exists to teach children and emerging artists every aspect of theatre — not only performing onstage, but also working behind the scenes in directing, design, technical production, and creative development. Our goal is to help young people understand theatre as a collaborative art form while building confidence, creativity, and real-world skills.
EnKore is committed to creating a welcoming and accessible environment for all. We strive to be a space where individuals of all abilities feel safe, supported, and valued. This includes being mindful of the needs of neurodivergent individuals, including those on the autism spectrum, and fostering an environment that encourages participation at a variety of comfort levels. To support accessibility for audiences, EnKore will incorporate initiatives such as American Sign Language (ASL) interpreted performances, as well as sensory-friendly performances designed to provide a more comfortable experience through adjustments to lighting, sound, and audience expectations.
In addition to its educational mission, EnKore produces live theatre for the community throughout the year. Each season features four mainstage productions: two that intentionally integrate youth and adult performers, and two 16+ productions that explore more advanced material. Alongside these, EnKore presents six youth productions annually, thoughtfully scheduled to avoid major holidays such as Christmas, New Year’s, Easter, Thanksgiving, and the Fourth of July. Rehearsal processes typically run six to eight weeks, with intentional overlap designed to support participation without overwhelming performers or families.
Education remains the cornerstone of EnKore’s work. The theatre offers a wide range of classes and workshops, including acting, improvisation, dance (hip hop, jazz, and musical theatre), voice, and specialty disciplines such as ventriloquism and puppetry, all led by professional artists. EnKore is designed to be a comprehensive theatre education hub where students can explore multiple disciplines within a single, supportive environment.
EnKore is also committed to developing new work and amplifying emerging voices. Each year, the theatre will host a playwriting competition, inviting writers to submit original scripts. Selected works will be developed into staged presentations, with writers assembling their own directors, casts, and creative teams. These pieces will be presented in a curated event, where audiences participate by voting for their favorite. The winning work will then be fully produced as part of EnKore’s following season, reinforcing the company’s commitment to creativity, originality, and community storytelling.
Together, these elements form the foundation of EnKore Theatre Company — a place where education, performance, and community intersect, and where artists of all ages are invited to learn, create, and belong.
